Births, Deaths and Marriages |
It is with great sadness that we announce that Old Fish Moira Metcalf died on 14 February 2021 in London. Both Moira and her sister Melissa joined New Hall School in September 1938 when Moira was 9 years old and Melissa was 7. The sisters spent the entirety of the Second World War as boarding students at New Hall.
Moira left in 1946 and joined the religious community of the Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre between 1952 and 1976 when she was known as S. Mary Simon. She was well known for her empathy, kindness and her breadth of interest and knowledge in many different aspects of life. Moira went on to teach and act as Bursar at Woldingham School. Moira and her sister visited the School a while back and have donated items from their time as pupils to our Heritage Room.
On Tuesday 17 March at 1.00 pm, Moira Metcalf will be buried in the community cemetery. Her funeral will be taking place earlier in the day in her parish church in London.
