On 1 May 2025, we were delighted to welcome back three Old Fish, Dr Ruth Taparro, Dr Dan Perry, and Alice Liu, virtually, to speak to our current students about careers in Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to hear directly from alumni who are at different stages of their journey in these demanding but rewarding fields.
The session provided a wide range of perspectives—from the early experiences of medical school and veterinary training to insights from those already working in clinical settings. Our guests spoke openly about the challenges, rewards, and realities of their professions, offering invaluable advice on everything from university applications to work-life balance.
Students found the session both inspiring and informative, and it was clear that hearing from those who once stood in their shoes made a real impact. We are incredibly grateful to our returning Old Fish for their time, honesty, and encouragement and we look forward to seeing where their careers take them next.
