On Saturday 23 September, members of the School and St Andrew’s Church, Boreham, community came together to perform in a memorial concert for Miss Daphne Hilliar in New Hall's historic Chapel. Miss Hilliar worked at New Hall for nearly 50 years, teaching piano, organ and theory to generations of students. Alongside a large private teaching practice, she was Music Director of the St Andrew’s Church Choir. Due to her kind and sensitive nature, many of her pupils have gone on to have a life-long love of music.
Saturday’s music consisted of both instrumental and vocal works, with soloists who were taught by Miss Hilliar, and a choir formed from the Senior Choir and member of the choir at St Andrew’s Church in Boreham. The evening was a wonderful tribute to an inspirational teacher who instilled a love of music in her pupils that will last a lifetime.
