A Level Art students enjoyed an inspiring and eye‑opening day during their recent visit to artist Sioban’s studio, where they gained a rare glimpse into the real working life of a full‑time artist. Sioban generously unpacked her creative process, offering an honest and detailed look at the time, effort and occasional uncertainty that shape her professional practice. The students were fascinated to discover just how much dedication and resilience are required to sustain a career in the arts.
Sioban and her partner Pete were exceptionally welcoming hosts, ensuring everyone felt at home with an array of refreshments including cold drinks, tea, coffee, homemade soup and bread. Throughout the day, Sioban made time to speak personally with each student, discussing their individual work, their plans and their artistic ambitions. She offered thoughtful, practical advice tailored to each young artist, supporting the next generation of creatives.
The visit proved to be both rewarding and motivating for all involved.
