Old Fish Inspires Year 12 with Talk on Social Entrepreneurship

We were delighted to welcome back Old Fish, Ella Lambert, recently to speak to our Year 12 students.  In 2020, Ella founded The Pachamama Project, a UK-registered charity which has grown into a global network of volunteers making reusable period pads for refugees and vulnerable people experiencing period poverty.

Her outstanding work has been widely recognised, earning her the Diana Award (2024), a place as a finalist in the Rising Star Awards (2024), and a spot on the 2025 Sunday Times Young Power List.

Ella delivered an inspiring talk, sharing her personal journey and highlighting how rewarding it can be to support those less privileged and to make a tangible difference in their lives.  She is now offering Year 12 students a unique opportunity to help design The Pachamama Social Entrepreneurship Leadership Programme.  This initiative will be trialled at New Hall School before being rolled out nationally across the UK.

This is a fantastic chance for students to contribute to a project with real social impact, while also developing vital employability skills that will serve them well in the future.

Last year, a group of current Year 8 and 9 students who took part in Careers Club chose to support The Pachamama Project through a mini fundraiser.  They designed and sold personalised Pachamama keyrings, tote bags, and water bottles in and around School, as well as to parents at the Prizegiving Evening in July.

Although the fundraiser ran for just four weeks, the students raised an impressive £145.  During Ella’s visit, we were delighted to present her with the donation, which she warmly received.
