The annual Oxbridge Dinner once again proved to be a highlight of the School calendar, bringing together current students, Old Fishes, and staff for an evening of celebration, reflection, and inspiration.  This annual tradition recognises the achievements of our Oxbridge alumni while also offering valuable advice and encouragement to aspiring applicants.

This year’s event was particularly memorable as we welcomed back Dr Férdia Stone-Davis, returning to New Hall for the first time in over 30 years.  A New Hall graduate of 1995, Dr Stone-Davis went on to study Theology at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, before completing an MPhil in the Philosophy of Religion and a PhD in Theology, as well as an MMus at Trinity College of Music, London.  In her keynote speech, she spoke with warmth and passion about the value of an Oxbridge education, while sharing her own academic and personal journey.

The evening also featured a series of insightful contributions from our Oxbridge alumni, who spoke on themes such as “Highlights of My First Year,” “What I Would Tell My Younger Self,” and “How to Make the Most of the Journey.”  Their reflections offered a blend of wisdom, honesty, and humour that resonated with both students and staff.

The dinner concluded with a heartfelt address from our Head of Sixth Form, who reminded students that while academic success is important, New Hall is not just about examination results.  With warmth and humour, he reflected on the extraordinary talent of our students and reminded them that they will always remain part of the New Hall community, carrying with them both our pride and our enduring support.

It was an evening filled with laughter, celebration, and inspiration, one that truly captured the spirit of New Hall and the bright futures that lie ahead for our students.
