Join author of New Hall and its School: "A school of virtuous demeanour", Tony Tuckwell for a history tour around New Hall School.
Tony's book was the first comprehensive book to be published on the school's history. Tony underwent extensive research about the School, including speaking to the Religious Community and staff about their knowledge of the School.
Tony has had a distinguished career within education. He read Modern History at St Peter’s College, Oxford and after teacher training taught at the Southern Grammar School for Boys in Portsmouth. He then moved to St John’s College, Southsea, as Head of Department prior to promotion to Senior Teacher. A Deputy Headship took Tony to Sale County Grammar School for Boys. In 1984 he became Head of King Edward VI Grammar School in Chelmsford.
Tony retired from teaching in 1999. Having obtained an MBA from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1995, Tony was invited to contribute to a number of educational books. He also researched and wrote That Honourable and Gentlemanlike House: A History of King Edward VI Grammar School 1551-2001 for the school’s 450th anniversary.
This is a free event held at New Hall School.
