It was another successful year for New Hall School A-Level students. Many of them have gained a place to study at their first choice university, including four students (pictured, below) having their Oxbridge places confirmed.

Tahir Khan (Deputy Head Boy) and Alexander Harker each gained three A* and one A grade to read Medicine and History, respectively, at the University of Cambridge. Lucy Ashfield and Alice Baxter (Deputy Head Girl) each achieved two A* and two A grades and will read Classics. Lucy has chosen to study at Cambridge, while Alice goes on to the University of Oxford.

The 2015 A Level grades build on the excellent results seen in previous years and continue the theme with a 100% success rate. This year, 50% of grades were at A*-A – bucking the national, downward, trend.  80% of grades were at A*-B and 94% at A*- C.  A record 169 A Level modules were awarded a perfect 100% score this year.   Boarding student and Head Girl, Charlotte Chambers-Farah, achieved three A* and two A grades to secure her place to read Modern European Languages and History at Durham University. Head Boy, William Freake, is delighted to have secured his place to read Medicine at University of Southampton.

12 students, this year, gained four A*-A grades, including Isobel Ovenden who will go on to read Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter.

At New Hall School, it isn’t just about academic success. Students are offered a range of co-curricular activities, including sports, dance, drama, equestrian, debating and photography, and enjoy the rounded education the variety brings. Matthew Jahanfar achieved three A*-A grades in his A Levels and put equal effort into captaining the school’s first eleven cricket team.

Principal, Katherine Jeffrey, said “We are incredibly proud of all our students’ successes and it is wonderful to see their excitement today after all their hard work.  We are delighted to hear that so many students have secured places at their first choice universities, to read competitive subjects such as Medicine, History and Engineering.  It is also a tremendous achievement to see so many New Hall students scoring 100% in A Level modules, which we believe is testament to their hard work and the high quality of teaching.”

Head of Sixth Form, James Alderson, said: “I am delighted to be able to celebrate with our students today. The impressive results achieved are a great reward for the hard work of all students.  We wish them every success in their continued studies and future careers.”
